Continue to take personal inventory and when I feel grief or loss, promptly admit it.
As we enter Step Ten we begin the “Maintenance” of our daily lives. As this step suggests, during the day, we are keeping a conscious mind as to if we become focused or fixated on our loss. If we do, we ask what was the “trigger”? What fear or resentment came up? Even if it is was a very happy memory. Did I have to leave the room to cry?
Keep in mind, all the above is completely normal in the grieving process. We may be undertaking the five steps to grieving but nothing says they must be in order! We are wanting to keep suffering out of our healthy grieving and pain. Yes, I said that! Healthy grieving and pain, there is such a concept.
